Protective Behaviours - Supporting Children's Personal Safety - Webinar Wednesday
Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell
In the lead up to National Child Protection Week - 3-9 September 2023 we will examine the role OSHC has in keeping children safe. Our play and leisure based curriculum offers the perfect opportunity to develop protective behaviours; personal safety skills that can be used by children, young people and adults to keep them safe and work towards reducing violence and abuse in the community.
In this session we will explore:
- National Child Protection Week – 3rd-9thSeptember 2023
- What are protective behaviours?
- Why are these important?
- Useful resources for OSHC
- Organisations that can assist in this important work
Join us as we explore various rules of personal safety, including body safety rules, the power of consent and the importance of not keeping secrets. In doing this we will highlight various organisations and resources that can support you in this important work of embedding protective behaviours across all aspects of the program in a way that is right for your children, families and community.
This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages.
Term 3 sees some exciting changes to our Wednesday Webinars. In response to the changing needs of the OSHC sector we have made the following modifications:
- 30 minute sessions - shorter, sharper content to overcome the time constraints many services are experiencing that limits their engagement with professional development
- New supplementary resources for every session including:
- Training Plan for Educational Leaders with session objectives, regulatory context, pre reading or viewing options, learning activities and additional resources links. This is designed to scaffold Educational Leaders with supporting their educator team in their on the job training, ongoing learning and professional development. It draws connections between session content and pedagogy and practice, and provokes critical reflection on the important role of educational leadership.
- Educator Worksheet with reflections and activities for ‘Putting into Practice’ the session content
- This means that even through the sessions are shorter – you’re not missing out on the important bits
- Cost savings - enjoy educator team (per service) participation for the same fee
- New delivery time - 10:00am to 10:30am EST
