About the Event

The aim of the Approved Provider Responsibilities For P&Cs Operating an OSHC session is to support the P&C Association to build their understanding of the various State and Federal legislative and regulatory obligations required to operate a school age care service. Compliance is an important responsibility with significant implications for all OSHC Providers.

Effective management and governance practices are an essential aspect of a service’s quality and compliance. For many P&Cs the specifics of being an approved education and care service can be a significant responsibility that is often misunderstood or overlooked. It is paramount for the Approved Provider to establish a sound understanding of the rules, requirements, and best practices for managing an OSHC service. This knowledge is the basis for operating a compliant, safe and quality education and care for children, and becomes the platform to build exceptional quality for the school community.

In 2024 QCAN will hold Approved Provider Responsibilities sessions as both individual and group workshops for P&Cs. Both formats provide opportunity to unpack and ask questions around each service’s specific operating context, however the group sessions will provide the opportunity to connect with other P&C executives across different school communities which provides invaluable networking and collaboration opportunities. The session also covers keys aspects of OSHC operations and illustrates the connection to management of the service, addressing the role and requirements of the Approved Provider (P&C executive committee).

While the session focuses on the responsibilities of the members of the P&C executive committee, we recommend sub-committee members, operations managers and other service leaders attend to ensure a shared understanding is promoted.
