About the Event

MTOP V2.0 - Exploring the 8 Principles - Webinar Wednesday

Facilitated by Rarni Rothwell

My Time, Our Place V2.0  has 8 Principles that reflect contemporary theories and research evidence concerning children and young people’s play, leisure and learning and place-based and relational pedagogies. In school age care settings, the principles underpin the practices focused on collaborating with all children and young people to make progress in relation to the outcomes.

Join us during today’s session where we will deeply consider the original 5 principles and the 3 new additions:

  • Secure, Respectful, Reciprocal Relationships: How trusting, supportive relationships are the foundation of educator’s practice.
  • Partnerships: How collaborative partnerships in the community are developed and maintained.
  • Respect for Diversity: How does the service value diverse beliefs, knowledge and experiences?
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Perspectives: How Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures are acknowledged, respected and valued. How do we progress reconciliation?
  • Equity, Inclusion and High Expectations: How equity, inclusion and strengths are embedded in practice. How are all children given the opportunity to succeed and thrive?
  • Sustainability: How are environmental, social and economic dimensions of sustainability intertwined?
  • Critical Reflection and Ongoing Professional Learning: How do we demonstrate that critical reflection and quality outcomes underpin practice? How do we demonstrate that educators are professionals committed to lifelong learning and seeking to be skilled, knowledgeable, ethical and socially just?
  • Collaborative Leadership and Teamwork: How do all educators lead? How are all stakeholders considered in the team?

This session is suited to OSHC professionals at all career stages, but especially those looking to move from proficient to lead career stage.
